Back Stock Replenishment - Setup

Setting up and maintaining back stock replenishment is easy.  Simply use Location 3 in Inventory Maintenance to indicate shelf or hook quantity and you're done!

Location 3 holds the number of units that makes a full shelf on your sales floor (shelf or peg hook, including secondary locations).

  • You can do this as part of regular department maintenance, when you purge back stock, and when putting stock away.

  • On Truck Day - any SKUs placed in top stock or back stock need to have Location 3 information updated.

Onboarding SKUs into Back Stock Replenishment

A RF gun or Zebra unit is a great tool for getting SKUs onto the back stock program. Under the Location Maintenance menu, location 3 data can easily be entered on SKUs. In the example below I have 2 facings of 5 for Great Stuff crack filler, so I've entered 10 into Location 3. Common examples: Spray Paint - 6 per facing, gallons of paint - 4 per facing, etc. Below are the steps for getting SKUs onto the program.

Optional - Location 4

For stores interested in giving SKUs in back stock a location we recommend using Location 4. This is displayed in the app and allows for quicker picking each day. Common locations included TOP (top stock), BACK (backroom), BSMT (basement), OUT (outside), and many more. This can be expanded to TOP05 for top stock in aisle 5.

Additional Info

Using Location 3 to indicate shelf quantity has multiple benefits in Mango.

  • Count Sheets will show a   for SKUs where the quantity-on-hand (at month end) was greater than the shelf capacity (Location 3). This helps prompt your counters to look in back stock for additional quantities when processing Mango's Count Sheets.
  • Shrink Report shows BS+ in the Research Reason column indicating a possible incorrect count to a SKU in a back stock position (a common occurrence).
  • You can set up PIP to show Loc3, which is a big help with variance research!
